| Where will my massage take place?
Your massage will take place in a warm, comfortable room conveniently located right in our locker rooms. In some clubs we have more than one room and it is best to ask the reception staff for directions.
What should in do in preparation for my massage?
Arrive early and pay in advance. A quick shower before your session is requested. Then, meet your therapist, receipt in hand at the massage room. Most clients wear a towel to their session but in some cases it is necessary to walk through a public space, in that situation we suggest comfy shorts or sweatpants and a T-shirt. When the previous session is complete, your therapist will welcome you.
What next?
Your therapist will ask you a few questions about your experience with massage, your present state of health, your goals for that particular session. You may be offered a selection of music to enjoy during the session. You may want to ask your therapist a few questions as well… their philosophy of massage, the techniques they will be using… Keep the conversations short so you can spend most of your time on the table.
Your therapist will ask you to remove as much clothing as you feel comfortable with, then they will leave the room while you disrobe and climb onto the specially designed massage table between the cozy sheets or towels and blanket. While most people do remove everything, the ultimate goal is your comfort and massage can be done over clothing.
What about draping?
Draping is a term therapists use to describe how you are covered during a massage. Most therapists use sheets but some use towels and or blankets. Please communicate with your therapist about what is most comfortable for you. Your genital area will be covered at all times and typically the only area exposed will be the portion of your body being worked on. All of our rooms have an electric blanket for you to lie on and plenty of blankets to cover you. Just let the therapist know if you are chilly or too warm.
How do I get the most out of the experience?
Close your eyes, breathe, and relax. Allow your therapist to do the work. They may need to lift an arm or leg. Allow them to do so without help or resistance. Breath. When thoughts of work, time, family or anything other than the touch of your therapists hands come to mind, acknowledge the thoughts and let them go. Breath and focus on the flow, the pressure, the sensations of the massage work. Some people relax better with a bit of conversation especially during a first session. That is ok but keep it short. Your therapist will follow your lead. Do however give occasional feedback about anything you like or do not like. If something is at all uncomfortable don’t be shy about saying so.
What types of massage with my therapist perform?
We offer “Therapeutic Massage” and while there are a few distinctive styles of bodywork, your therapeutic massage will be: the best combination of techniques suited to your needs. The work you receive will depend more upon the philosophy, experience and style of the therapist than on a particular technique they might employ. No two massage sessions or massage therapists are alike. In order to find the best “fit” for you, you may want to try out a few different therapists. Reading the posted Therapist Biographies may help but nothing is as useful as first hand experience.
Tipping.
While tips are not required, they are appreciated. Your therapist has worked hard to give you the best possible massage experience. Most therapists are only able to dedicate a few hours of their day to this intense physically demanding work. A tip shows you value both the individual and quality of their service. A standard tip in the field is 15 to 20%.
What should I expect after my massage?
Most people report feeling very relaxed, calm or a sense of being “reconnected”. Some people feel a sense of being energized and more alert. It is also normal to feel some soreness where pressure was applied to help release tight muscles but as a result of this you should also notice a greater range of motion, flexibility.
How often should I get a massage?
That depends upon your objective and your situation but most folks who have tried massage will return as often as their time and financial budgets allow. Think of it as an investment in your most valued commodity. You will be rewarded with an amazing abundance of profits for yourself and those around you. Ask your therapist about the care program that is best for you. Your family, co-workers and friends will also enjoy your extra energy, brighter perspective and more balanced state of well-being.
